The Smiths Falls Gordon Pipe & Drum Band was formed in 1996 under the direction of the late Mel Rodgers and Bill Orr. We wear the Ancient Gordon tartan. The band's emblem, which is emblazoned on the bass drum, incorporates the Stag's Head from the Clan Gordon Coat of Arms and the Waterfall Logo from the Township of Smiths Falls. The colours are from the Gordon Tartan: green, blue, gold and black.
Each June, the Band hosts the annual "Highland on the Rideau" pipe, drum and band contest. It is one the the six contests for the "Eastern Ontario Championship Supreme" The "Highland on the Rideau" is a continuation of the former Spring Fling indoor contest that was also hosted by the band. The first "Spring Fling" was in 2005 and the first "Highland in the Rideau" was in 2012.
